One member of the audience told us of his relationship of years and how his family of blood and his extended family, that is his friends, told him to leave that guy, but he found so many wonderful things and connections that he just couldn´t break, until later.

 

Miguel Angel mentioned that in Mexico we gays tend to adopt the idea of Marga López stile of mother -the one that is a marthyr and suffers it all for the sake of the family and children-, and so we tend to imitate and copy that model. Agustín said it was too simple that way as in reality it is a matter of culture and how we are educated in Mexico. Martín said he believes it is also due to the fact that we are not used to the idea of being alone, that the fear of solitude is so huge that people tend to live even in those sort of relations, where you can be insulted, misstreated or beaten but people do not denounce.

 

Agustin underlined the fact that there are the "common" reasons for the scars, sucha as "I fall all the time", or "I am so stupíd I hit myself with the door," and there are specific "reasons" such as homophobia and the fear of being exposed as Gay or the fear of malpractice by the authorities if they know you are gay.

 

Miguel said it has nothing to do with the closet because some people have decided to belong to it all their life, but the he admited that even this action requires self-steem and comming out of their own closet (so those personas are out of the closet even living into it for most people around them).

 

Carlos Cevallos said that this was so different from S&M sessions where the members reach an agreement of behaviour and so nothing is imposed nor there is abuse either psicologycal or fisical besides the gentlemen's agreement the S&M members get.

Finallly, Alonso said it is a matter of breaking the silence and denounce this sort of men with family, friends and/or the authorities. Agustín underlined the importance of a net of friends and family in order to be able to get support in the most difficult moments. As we name "sister" to some very close friends and to them we tell things we would never do to our mothers or brothers or sisters... In the end  there were advertisements and Erik and Cesar asked for a cooperation from the people to promote los Martes activities in exchange of condoms...
