Be a Volunteer in AIDSinCULTURE.org

Volunteers are essential to the smooth functioning of the organization and  we welcome people who are willing to volunteer their time. Our academic conferences, outreach activities and other events would not have been possible without the support of our international volunteer force. The different volunteer and internship programs are open to any applicant who meets the listed requirements in the individual internship or volunteer engagement descriptions - professionals, non-professionals, retirees, students, recent graduates... We welcome volunteers and interns from anywhere in the world and we can promise you an unparalleled life and work experience in a truly multicultural and multilingual international work environment.

AIDSinCULTURE.org is organizing a large variety of activities in many fields all year and we welcome new volunteers at any time for any period of time.  If you would like to receive academic credit for your work with our organization, please indicate the requirements of your institution. If possible, we will adapt your program to the requirements of your institution. We also offer interesting and challenging internships in a wide range of fields.

AIDSinCULTURE.org has currently three categories of volunteers:

1. Conference Volunteers (during academic events) - Volunteers can get involved by helping to prepare for the events or working as day-of-event volunteers in the Aids in Culture conference, which is organized annually in December or in other conferences organized by the International Society for Cultural History and Cultural Studies (CHiCS). [more information about Conference Volunteers in AIDSinCULTURE.org]

2. Outreach Volunteers - Outreach volunteers can participate on ad hoc basis in a wide range of activities all year, extending from helping to plan, prepare and implement art exhibitions, theater performances, film presentations,  safer sex parties, community events, academic events, workshops, outreach activities at schools, universities and in other institutions to distributing condoms in the subway...  You can join our Outreach volunteer force at any time, at any day of the year; Just send us an e-mail telling us a little about yourself and your interests, and why you would like to work with community outreach in Mexico, and our outreach coordinator will get in touch with you within short. There will always be something for you to do and your support will be greatly appreciated. Our outreach coordinator can be reached at: outreach@aidsinculture.org

3. Semester Volunteers (1 - 6 months) - Semester Volunteers can assist AIDSinCULTURE.org with all the above, and in addition support the organization with office work, administrative work and project work depending on their education and background. Skilled and unskilled volunteer opportunities are available as well as a wide range of internships that can provide you with a valuable work and life experience in an international organization and news agency. Language Requirements (all positions): The working languages of Enkidu Magazine and the International Society for Cultural History and Cultural Studies are English and Castilian. Excellent command of at least one of these languages is therefore required. Due to the international character of our activities and the multilingual and multinational composition of our work force, English tends to be the most used language for internal communication in the organization. Staff meetings are usually conducted in both languages. However, knowledge in any additional language will be highly appreciated and increases your chances of engagement. Conference volunteers should be able to communicate in both English and Castilian. International semester volunteers and interns are encouraged to take a Spanish course during their engagement if they suffer from monolingualism. If you want to combine your engagement with a language course, we will adjust your work schedule to the schedule of your course whenever necessary.
