Sponsor information: AIDS in Culture II
Puerto Vallarta 9 – 13 December 2005
AIDS in Culture is an annual conference organised
by Enkidu Magazine in Mexico City in cooperation with CENSIDA the
national Mexican AIDS-organisation. In 2004 the conference was organised
in CENADEH, the National Center for Human Rights in Mexico City. In 2005
the conference will be held in Puerto Vallarta on the Mexican Pacific
Coast.
AIDS in Culture seeks to examine issues relating
to AIDS n culture across a wide range of perspectives. The conference
aims at bringing together people working in all relevant disciplines,
activists, professionals, academics and promoting innovative
multidisciplinary and multicultural exchange and dialogue.
In
2004, AIDS in Culture I had 52 participants
representing a wide range of academic disciplines as well as artists,
activists and other highly interesting individuals who shared their
research, their art, their visions and their ideas with each other in a
stimulating multilingual academic environment with plenary meetings and
round table discussions. 14 different universities from Latin America,
North America, Europe and Africa were represented as well as two
government agencies and 5 NGO’s. We expect 75 participants at AIDS in
Culture II.

Sponsor Advantages
Enkidu Academic
events attract delegates from all over the world and give you the
opportunity of visibility each and every day during and after the event,
as well as before, through exposure at the conference website, during the
press conference, and in the promotion of the event. In addition Enkidu
Academic events are open to the general public who is being encouraged to
attend and participate in the discussions as well as enjoying our
extensive artistic program consisting of theatre, performances, art
exhibitions and concerts. Exhibitors and Sponsors can therefore benefit
from direct and indirect contact with a large and diverse audience, not
just in and during the conference, but through time as the conference
publications, promotional material and the website will remain sources of
reference for years to come.

Our Goal and
Objectives with AIDS in Culture II:
1)
Stimulate innovative research on AIDS as a cultural phenomenon and
dialogue and exchange between researchers of different disciplines,
activists, artists and organizations. Research findings presented at the
conference as well as other conference materials are made available to a
broader audience through publication of the book “AIDS in Culture: New
Perspectives“ which currently is being prepared for submission to
international publishers and publication on the Enkidu web site. It is
our goal to have the book with articles from the first conference on
AIDS and Culture ready for presentation at the second conference in
December 2005.
2) Make this
information available to a larger audience throughout the Spanish
Speaking World through free distribution in Enkidu Magazine as well as
through our outreach activities in particular in Mexico City. Through
our sister organizations in Mexico, Puerto Rico, Ecuador and Canada, the
information reaches out to an even larger international audience.
3) Encourage and
stimulate contact and dialogue between the general public and
specialists in different fields. Enkidu Academic events are open to the
general public who is being encouraged to attend and participate in the
discussions. Through our events we diffuse information to groups of
people who usually do not have access to this knowledge. We enable
dialogues between the general public and specialists.
