Join New York ’s Mexican
community at the fourteenth annual Mexican Day Parade. This is a
wonderful and fun parade that features the most vivid and colorful
floats, folkloric dancers and Mariachis. A variety of different musical
groups and beautiful, traditional costumes will be highlighted.

The Sunday Parade along
Madison Avenue is the highlight of the Mexican Day Parade events. Parade
participants are 5,000 plus and parade spectators are over 250,000.
There is media coverage on Spanish television, radio and print. There is
an impressive number of community contingencies, floats, marching bands
and musical groups which provide a festive and lively mood to the parade.

The Mexican Day Parade (or Mexican Independence Parade) celebrates
Mexico 's independence from Spain . The parade began in the 1990s.

New York City has seen a large increase in immigrants from Mexico . The
parade has grown significantly, and Mayor Michael Bloomberg marched in
the 12th annual Mexican Day Parade on S Sunday, September 20, 2009.

Marches in 15th annual Mexican Day Parade; parade starts at 41st Street
and Madison Avenue and goes south to 27th Street, Manhattan.
