Welcome to
Mexico: Re-Closing of The New Vaquero |
 |
|

CIUDAD DE MEXICO, 26/11/2011 (Texto y fotos © Agustin Villalpando /
Enkidu Magazine): I have just come from a differente world. Norway is a
place where people are used to trust their system. A place where you can
leave your kids play down the street and enjoy. Laws and security
personnel are there to be trusted as they work for you and your well
being. I trust it does.
For
some months now I had listened about a place, “The New Vaquero” that was
filled with gay men and where all were welcomed (men & women) and when a
friend called me to meet him I said ‘yeah, where can we meet?’ He asked
me if I knew of this same place and I had, so we met there at 18:00 Hrs.
We
spoke about his trips, I spoke about Norway. He told me all about South
America and the beauties you can find there. I was referring to the
services you enjoy paying between 60 and 70 percent in taxes. A place
with public schools (from kindergarten to University) and the fact that
ALL hospitals have the same infrastructure for ALL the people. No
private places, all have the same quality of services.

We
had two beers and a half when four patrol cars (52079, 52061, 52039 &
52076) and three unidentified cars (one is shown in the picture) parked
in front of the place. The music stopped and we were asked to leave the
place as they were closing it. Police personnel as well as people with “Verificador”
on their vests surrounded all of us. We were in a movie of terrorist, a
movie of dangerous drug dealers, but no, it was a place where people
were gathering themselves, having a beer, chatting and all.

Mexico City is a way of showing how Mexicans treat business and their
customers. The personnel I asked the reason of the closing told me the
business had been closed but they had opened it without permission. And
my question is: Is there a need for all that psychological threat and so
much use of force? Do they have no other situations like crime and
robbery to be prosecuted by law? Four patrol cars and three unidentified
cars. Isn’t it too much for re-closing a place? Couldn’t they come at
18:00 Hrs. when there were basically no costumers? Did they have to wait
for it to be having all of us to witness all of it? I hope Delegado
Agustin Torres Pérez knows all about it and takes responsibility of the
things the foreign people that were inside will tell about Mexico City
as we, Mexicans, believe this is "normal"... Can you believe it?
Welcome to Mexico! I thought. |

Fenomenal: Producto de las entrañas creativas
Esta es una obra que, en menos de una
hora, agrada, repele y compromete. Un gran acierto es la
participación directa del respetable ya que existe la posibilidad de
formar parte de estos fenómenos. Como en el cabaret, en
Fenómenal, encontramos música, risa, interacción y la
complicidad entre las partes...

All beginning has an end and History has been
written in Oslo tonight: A-ha started their final farewell tour in Norway

All of us heard, watched,
sang and enjoyed the essence of Morten Harket (vocals), Magne Furuholmen
(keyboards), and Pål Waaktaar (guitars), whom, in
1982 in the capital of Norway got the idea of using an international
expression to name their band: A-ha. 30,000 people, most of them of
Viking origins, were there…
