El
derecho a ser diferente
The conference The
Right to Be Different will begin on Wednesday 26 July 2006 with
an opening address by an internationally - recognised personality
during a gala dinner given to officially inaugurate the Conference.
The plenary
sessions, expected to bring together approximately 2000 participants
will be held in the monumental convention center Palais des congrès
in Montréal. The Co-Presidents of the Conference, Ms. Joke Swiebel,
former Member of the European Parliament, and Professor Robert
Wintemute from the School of Law at King's College London will lead
the opening discussions.
Over the next three days, Conference participants will be offered
four more plenary sessions, featuring a number of
internationally-renowned keynote speakers, and will be able to
choose from up to 250 workshops (up to 75 simultaneous workshops
during each of five workshop sessions), which will deal with the
many aspects of the Conference themes listed below.
Finally, on Saturday 29 July, there
will be a lunch to close the Conference, which will include the
adoption of the Montréal Declaration.
Enkidu is organising one or more
panel sessions or workshops for each of the conference theme. Latin
America is far too often underrepresented in such international
fora. We want to contribute to changing that. We invite scientists,
activists, artists and other people working with relevant themes to
submit abstracts to the Enkidu organising commitee. We have issued
an open call for papers for each of the conference themes. Please

Each panel or workshop will have 4
speakers and one moderator.
If you would like to participate in
the Enkidu Delegation for "A Right to be Different",
please follow the link to the call for papers for the conference
theme that interest you the most where you can fill in a form. You
cannot submit more than one abstract for an individual presentation
in one category. Individual participants, however, can in addition
to their own presentation, participate as moderator and session
chair in another panel session.
Papers will be considered on
related themes and topics from a wide range of perspectives. 500
word abstracts should be submitted to the organising comitee in
English, Spanish, or French as e-mail attachment by 30 September
2005. The official languages for the conference will be French and
English. However, the Enkidu panels will also have Spanish papers
with translation to English and/or French provided.
As always in Enkidu Academic
Events, we encourage our participants to focus on topics and
questions that contribute to breaking silences and building bridges.
Interpretations of the conference themes ranging from the
predictable to the surprising are encouraged.
